Welcome From Our Principal

Welcome to Montgomery Elementary School. As the school year gets underway, this site will act as a forum that links us to a wealth of information and possibilities for our students. The 2019-2020 school year is already booked solid with plans for new experiences and adventures for each of us. We are excited to be able to communicate with our school community in a way that will help us make the most of our knowledge, creativity, and imagination.

All California Elementary Schools are now required to have a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program in place. Any child who will turn age five between September 2 and December 2, 2019 is eligible to enroll in TK. If your child will be 5 years old by September 1, 2019, he or she will be eligible for Kindergarten.

Transitional Kindergarten is designed to be a bridge between preschool and Kindergarten that will give your child, whose birthday falls late in the year, an opportunity to learn important academic and social skills in a hands-on way that supports his/her development. This is important because California’s Kindergarten standards and curriculum have changed over the years, and many of the skills children were once taught in first grade are now expected in Kindergarten. TK is a wonderful option that will allow your child the gift of time to develop at his or her own pace and continue building the social, emotional and academic skills that are so important for success. Once again, we are happy to welcome Pre-school students to our campus under the auspices of STARS Preschool. Having a Preschool on campus helps in the effort to create a positive learning environment where children can grow and parents can be a part of a progressive and thriving community. We love when these three- and four-year-olds eagerly join us at daily flag salute as well as for our Wednesday ice-cream treats at the picnic table. I look forward to supporting our TK-8th grade students as they work hard to master new Common Core curricular goals and make their way through the many experiences afforded by a new school year. Providing guidance as these individuals meet new challenges and create opportunity for themselves is quite an endeavor and requires the utmost care. Montgomery’s team of parents, community members, staff, District Board members, Parents Booster Club members and friends are committed to best practices, hard work and innovative thinking in an effort to inspire students to do and be their absolute best. Thank you to each member of our Montgomery community ahead of time for your help and support, questions and inspiration. If you are new to our community, welcome! I look forward to working alongside everyone in an effort to make 2019-2020 the best ever!
