Meet Our Teachers

Mr. John Quinn is our Superintendent who offers a wealth of experience after several years as a teacher, counselor, assistant superintendent for San Francisco Public Schools and has served as the State Administrator for the Emery Unified School District. Mr. Quinn attends to the business of the District by working closely with our county Office of Education as well as District Board Members. Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Quinn makes time every Thursday to visit classrooms and interact with students. Ms. Port

Ms. Shelley Port is our Transitional Kindergarten through Second Grade teacher. Ms. Port has been teaching at our school for over 30 years and has had the rare pleasure of teaching children of her former students. Ms Port serves as a great support for parents of young children and always makes time to share her experience in an effort to assist. Mr. Christopher Sotak is our Third through Fifth Grade teacher who is in his fourth year at Montgomery. He has completed the North Coast Beginning Teacher Program and is excited to begin a new Environmental Studies unit with his class this year. He is a former soccer player for Chico State and spends off hours coaching soccer and baseball for his son's and daughter's teams. He can be reached at

Mrs. Judy Mercieca is our Teacher in Charge and teaches Sixth through Eighth grade. Mrs. Mercieca is a resident of the Cazadero community and has been serving in various positions at Montgomery for 30 years. She finds her greatest inspiration in the ever changing environment of the educational system and is committed to ensuring best practice opportunities for the students and families of Montgomery.
